View Full Version : Bamboo `rim shot' for drums?

I am also interest in cutting a small piece of bamboo to fasten to my drums to provide a "rim shot." In traditional practice, we hit the rim of our wood drum, but over time, the constant stress on the wood results in pieces of wood falling off or collapsing. To prevent this I wish to fasten a piece of bamboo to hit instead. I read the thread on hardening bamboo, but in my case this is hard drum sticks pounding away at piece of bamboo. Any advice or should I just resign to the fact of replacing them often.

Hi, can you explain in more detail of what you need? Is it a curved rim on the drum that you need, or something else attached to the drum?

If you have any pictures you can upload them in your post.
This would be very helpful.
