I'm new to working with bamboo and do not know all of the term so if this is discussed somewhere else on the forum please let me know.

I know there are many tying matterials, however, when I see bamboo furniture, crafts, etc. in the store, they are tied with a thin straw-like matterial. What is that and where do you get it?

Hi,
It depends on where the item was manufactured, the product style, as there are a number of different materials used.

Here's some examples of materials used on the web pages of Franks Cane and Rush Supplies:

natural binder cane (http://www.franksupply.com/handcaning.html#bindercane) (rattan)

Colored Fibre Rush (http://www.franksupply.com/rushandsupplies.html#coloredrush)

Natural Rush (http://www.franksupply.com/rushandsupplies.html#naturalrush)

Pakistan Grass (http://www.franksupply.com/rushandsupplies.html#pkgrass)

Twisted Seagrass (http://www.franksupply.com/rushandsupplies.html#seagrass)

Thanks.
The first item listed was what I had in mind.
I did not realize, until I research it on the web, that there was so much variety when working with bamboo.
