Does anyone have plans for constructing a low garden edging from bamboo please?

I've seen a few but never made any. I'm guessing you could cut 3/4" diameter culms into lengths around 8" and end pieces 12". Drill a pair of holes through each and thread them together with wire or sturdy cord. Drive the end pieces into the ground. Like |IIIIII| except make them even at the top.

Hope that gives you an idea to play with.

Hi, here's some things to consider..

- Cut the top end of the each bamboo piece just above the nodal diaphragm to prevent water from collecting in the tops of bamboo.

- If the method used to hold the pieces together is to drill two rows of holes in the bamboo and then thread wire through them, it's important to have all the holes exactly spaced or it will be a real tough job trying to thread the wire through all the pieces.
This can be achieved by either laying out all the pieces and marking all the points to be drilled using a board layed across the bamboo, or by using a drill press with a measured end stop to position each stick prior to drilling.

At intervals of 2-3 ft, a bamboo stick could be made longer for the purpose of sticking into the ground to hold the bamboo edging upright around the bed.

...though there's other ways to secure the bamboo in an upright fashion, and of course there are many other variations of bamboo garden edging that could be made.

The main thing, when pieces need to be replicated, is to find a procedure that can be repeated easily, producing accuracy where needed.
